Registration for the 2023 Richard Seitz Memorial Lecture is now open! We welcome the publication of “Going Upstream: Addiction Care for the Masses” by Dr. William Miller. Description: The majority of people with diagnosable substance use disorders never receive professional addiction treatment, but most recover. I was passionate about what I did. Dr. Miller builds on his 50 years of research to (1) teach moderation skills, (2) simple opportunistic interventions such as SBIRT, and (3) to intervene at the early stages of problem development, such as motivation. Describes the various ways to “go upstream” in . interviewing and person-centred clinical style, and (4) the delivery of behavioral health services in mainstream medicine.
